Position: Consultant – RBI Liaison & Regulatory Affairs

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced and well-connected retired RBI professional, preferably at a middle-management level, to advise and represent the NBFC in its interactions and dealings with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of RBI regulations, regulatory processes and supervisory expectations, along with the ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with relevant RBI officials. The person should possess a pleasing personality, excellent communication skills, maturity and the ability to get things done through effective follow-up and coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the principal liaison between the NBFC and RBI on regulatory and operational matters.
- Represent the NBFC in meetings, discussions and correspondence with RBI, wherever required.
- Facilitate communication and follow-up with relevant RBI departments and officials.
- Provide guidance to the management on RBI regulations, circulars, directions, compliance requirements and supervisory expectations.
- Assist in obtaining necessary clarifications, permissions, approvals and regulatory responses from RBI.
- Coordinate with internal compliance, finance, legal and business teams to ensure timely submission of information and responses sought by RBI.
- Assist the organisation during RBI inspections, supervisory reviews, regulatory interactions and audits.
- Review regulatory submissions, representations and correspondence before they are submitted to RBI.
- Proactively identify potential regulatory concerns and advise management on appropriate action.
- Track pending matters with RBI and ensure timely and effective follow-up until closure.
- Build and maintain strong, professional and credible relationships with relevant stakeholders within RBI.
- Keep the management updated on important regulatory developments that may impact the NBFC’s business.
Candidate Profile
- Retired RBI officer, preferably having served at middle-management level or above.
- Strong understanding of RBI’s regulatory framework applicable to NBFCs.
- Prior experience in departments/functions dealing with NBFC regulation, supervision, compliance, inspection, licensing or regulatory approvals would be highly desirable.
- Excellent understanding of RBI processes, documentation and regulatory expectations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-management skills.
- Pleasing personality, professional demeanor and high credibility.
- Should be proactive, persistent and capable of driving matters to closure through effective coordination and follow-up.
- Ability to deal confidently and diplomatically with senior management as well as regulatory stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
- High degree of integrity, confidentiality and professional ethics.
