Why do we need to prepare a good Resume?

A Resume / CV in today’s technology driven world are very important for identifying a suitable job opportunity. Around two decades back professionals used a print out of their CV / Resume or used to send across their Job Application via Post to the Company. The Human Resource Department had the mammoth task of going through physically each envelope, postcard or Bio-data in order to identify the suitable profiles. The time lag involved in the Recruitment process was in months as the Advertisement needed to be put up in Newspapers and then time was provided for the applications to reach the Company office. The short-listing process was time consuming and Interviews were scheduled weeks later so as to allow prospective employees to make necessary arrangements to travel.
 
Advent of technology transformed the Hiring process. Job Portals replaced the Newspaper Ads and it became time-saving and easy to recruit professionals. Job Search, applying for jobs, short listing and completing end-to-end Recruitment Cycle in a challenging time frame became a reality.
 
Seeking a good job opportunity is becoming an extremely challenging online battle with the advent of a number of platforms and new emerging platforms. The professional is at his wits end trying to keep track of his resume and the matching opportunity on the various portals he has opted for. To add to the problem is the dependence on technology which has introduced the concept of “Keywords” which assists the Recruiter in identification of a suitable prospect.
 
Hence it is imperative for a Professional to prepare a good Resume / CV / Bio Data for creating the right First Impression on the Employer / Recruiter.
