Position: Product / Business Project Manager – Capital Markets Digital Platforms
Location: Mumbai
Reporting to: Head – Digital Technology / Digital Platforms
Experience: 7–12 years
Domain: Capital Markets / Broking / Wealth / Financial Technology — mandatory
Salary (CTC): Rs. 12 – 15 LPA
Role Overview
We are looking for a Business-facing Product/Project Manager who can work closely with business and product stakeholders to understand business problems, shape requirements and convert them into clear, actionable technology initiatives.
The role will sit at the intersection of Business, Product and Technology and will be responsible for taking requirements from an initial business ask to a level of clarity where the technology delivery team can confidently plan and execute.
The role will work closely with the Technology Delivery PM and multiple technology functions including UI/UX, Backend, Web, Mobile, QA/Automation, DevOps, Infrastructure and Architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with business and product stakeholders to understand business objectives, problems, workflows and expected outcomes.
- Convert high-level business requirements into well-defined functional scope, user journeys, features and acceptance criteria.
- Challenge and clarify ambiguous requirements rather than simply documenting them.
- Define MVP scope, priorities, milestones and phased delivery approach in collaboration with business stakeholders.
- Identify functional dependencies across RMS/OMS, Middleware, APIs, Web, Mobile, Back-office and external systems.
- Work with UI/UX and technology architects to validate the proposed solution at an early stage.
- Prepare requirements sufficiently for technology teams to estimate, plan and execute without repeated business clarification.
- Coordinate with the Technology Delivery PM to transition approved requirements into execution.
- Maintain business requirement traceability from business objective → requirement → feature → acceptance criteria → delivery.
- Work with business stakeholders during development and UAT to clarify requirements and resolve functional gaps.
- Support prioritisation and scope decisions when business requirements compete with technology capacity or timelines.
- Coordinate with stakeholders for regulatory, exchange, operational and business-driven changes.
- Ensure business readiness for releases, including UAT, communication, process changes and adoption.
- Support production incidents from a business-impact and priority perspective, ensuring the right business context reaches technology teams.
- Provide concise business-level updates on requirement status, risks, decisions and upcoming milestones.
What This Role Is NOT
- Not a Scrum Master focused primarily on ceremonies.
- Not a status-reporting coordinator.
- Not a QA/Testing PM.
- Not responsible for directly managing day-to-day execution across engineering teams.
- Not simply a Business Analyst who documents requirements.
The expectation is to own the problem from the business side and shape it sufficiently before handing it over for technology execution.
Mandatory Skills
- Strong understanding of Capital Markets / Broking workflows.
- Good understanding of trading lifecycle, order management, positions, holdings, margin, settlement, back-office and related workflows.
- Proven experience working directly with business/product stakeholders.
- Strong requirement elicitation, analysis and functional decomposition skills.
- Ability to convert ambiguous business requirements into structured scope and actionable milestones.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to understand technology implications without needing to be a hands-on developer.
- Experience working with cross-functional technology teams.
- Strong understanding of Agile product development and software delivery lifecycle.
- Experience with JIRA/Confluence or equivalent product/project management tools.
Good to Have
- Experience with RMS/OMS or broker technology platforms.
- Exposure to exchange, clearing corporation or depository integrations.
- Understanding of APIs, middleware, microservices and distributed applications.
- Exposure to Web, Mobile and Back-office digital products.
- Experience with regulatory/exchange-driven technology changes.
- Experience working in high-volume/high-availability financial systems.
Key Success Measure
The success of this role should be measured by how much ambiguity is removed before a requirement reaches the technology delivery team.
A good output from this role should allow the Technology Delivery PM to take the requirement and confidently drive:
Scope → estimation → dependency mapping → sprint planning → execution → testing → release.
