Position: Head – Carbon Capture, Bio-Industrial Solutions & Circular Materials

Location: Gurugram

Experience: 15-25 years in industrial projects, process engineering, biotech/environmental engineering, carbon projects, plant operations or circular materials

Role: Create a commercially viable platform for capturing, converting, accounting and monetising CO2 and industrial by-products through CCUS, biochar, algae biomass, biotechnology routes and fly ash-based products. The role requires a techno-commercial leader who showcases business ownership across technology, plant execution, carbon accounting, regulatory compliance, product commercialization, safety and profit delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, Build and Execute the strategic roadmap for a multi-route carbon utilisation platform covering CCUS, biological capture through algae, durable carbon storage through biochar, biotechnology products and fly ash-based mineral/material products.
• Identify CO2 sources, industrial partners, biomass feedstocks, fly ash suppliers and customers; convert them into bankable project pipelines.
• Lead technology selection, vendor evaluation, pilot design, commissioning, operations and scale-up; set up laboratory, pilot and commercial operations with clear SOPs, safety controls, MRV protocols and management dashboards.
• Ensure every claim around capture, utilisation, removal or reduction is supported by data, third-party testing and auditable records.
• Develop revenue from product sales, carbon credits/removal units, industrial offtake, consulting/services and technology licensing where feasible.
• Protect the company from greenwashing risk, safety incidents, regulatory non-compliance, poor-quality materials, unrealistic carbon assumptions and uncontrolled capex.
• Coordinate with finance, legal, CS, HR, EHS, government agencies, auditors, labs, universities and industrial partners.
• Present monthly and quarterly reports to management/board covering progress, risk, capex, P&L, compliance and strategic decisions.

Desired Profile:

• Education: B.Tech/M.Tech in chemical, environmental, biotechnology, bioprocess, materials, mechanical, civil or industrial engineering. Strong applied science background acceptable if project execution is proven.
• Technical Exposure: Industrial process systems, biomass/thermal conversion, biotech scale-up, environmental projects, materials utilisation, carbon accounting or sustainability projects.
• Has handled cross-functional teams, vendors, budgets, timelines, compliance and operational problems.
• Can evaluate unit economics, contracts, product pricing, capex payback, working capital and customer offtake.
• Comfort with environmental permits, safety audits, product testing, documentation and third-party verification.
